Balicasag Island Dive Resort Bohol has a total land area of 1.5 hectares and situated on a long stretch of sandy shell and coralline beach with crystal blue waters beyond.

Operational since March 16, 1989, the resort promotes underwater sports and protects a 400 meter marine life sanctuary.

Found in the area are the best dive spots where you meet exotic fishes and view colorful coral formations. Hammerhead and whale sharks are often sighted during the months of December and January. Balicasag Island Dive Resort has a dive shop which offers scuba diving instructions plus diving paraphernalia.

The resort boasts of 10 naturally ventilated and native inspired duplex cottages with 2 rooms each. An open-air restaurant caters to guests and serves international and local dishes.

Location

Balicasag Island Dive Resort lays 60 kms to the southwest of Panglao Island, which is a 30 minutes ride away by boat starting from Alona Beach.
It lies 4 kms southwest of Duljo Point off Panglao Reef and is a flat, circular island with a total land area of 25 hectares.

The Island is covered with palm trees and bougainvillea and is surrounded by a sandy shell and coralline beach with a small lighthouse tower in the middle.

The Island is fringed by a narrow reef shelf 9 to 49.5 meters wide where the tops of the submarine cliffs are covered with hard coral while lower levels are covered with sponges and gorgonians. A thriving fish community is found around the cliff face area where jacks, barracudas and mackerels abound.

The Island is inhabited by more or less 100 families whose main livelihood is fishing. Due to the boom in tourism, many families now make a living from collecting rare shells and selling them to tourists on the beach.

Balicasag Island Dive Resort is on the south side of the Island and is the Island’s sole scuba facility. It is near to mainland Bohol, which has good air and sea connections with the rest of the archipelago.

From Tagbilaran City

It takes more or less 30 minutes ride from airport or pier to Balicasag Island Dive Resort on board motorized boats.

Facilities and Services

Balicasag Island Dive Resort boasts of 10 native-inspired duplex cottages with two rooms per cottage. The cottages have an area of 19.64 square meters with individual verandas. 3 cottages are provided with single beds while the rest (17 cottages) have twin beds. All rooms are screened and provided with air conditioning, electric fan, private toilet and bath.

The resort has an open-air cozy restaurant that serves international and local cuisine in a relaxed, elegant beachfront setting. The restaurant can accommodate more or less 40 persons.

Balicasag Island Dive resort has a tropical garden whirlpool for the guest to enjoy after the salty waters of the sea.

The resort also has a game room where you can play billiards, dart, and other board games. Facilities are also provided for table tennis and beach volleyball.

Guests can indulge in aqua sports like snorkeling, and scuba diving. Their dive shop has all the necessary equipments for diving. The resort has its own motorized boat that can accommodate up to 12 persons.
